Ive had an old Forerunner and then a couple of Vivo's and then a Fenix 5S. Now I have a Fenix 5X. I never had any issues until I got the Fenix 5S. I;ve had it for not even a year when I noticed that the GPS was weird. It would just stop recording GPS even when the activity (run) is still going and it is recording other metrics (steps, strides
Unfortunately after only 2 years and 4 months my Garmin Fenix 6 Pro also showed problems.I use the word "also" because my first Garmin Fenix 6 had problems a
However, if I start a Run, then the Auto Cal will not read the Altitude from the GPS and the Altimeter is not altered. Consequently the Altitude and Barometer are almost never correct and are worthless information. As a result the Altimeter has been one of the biggest disappointments of the Fenix 5.
You got a serious issue with your altimeter. Do you got the same kind of behavior with your barometer ? (If yes it could be an hardware problem and you are under warranty, if not it could be a widget problem hence the resetting) Have you try the last beta 3.55 ? Yes, the barometer has problems too!
The watch contains an internal altimeter and barometer. The watch collects elevation and pressure data continuously, even in low-power mode. The barometer displays environmental pressure data based on the fixed elevation where the altimeter was most recently calibrated
Well like the previous poster, I talked to Garmin, and they deduced the barometric sensor was broken. They are doing a RMA for me. They provided a return shipping label and will send a replacement Fenix 5 (hopefully with a working barometric sensor). A bit of a drag since I had it only a month before it failed. Hopefully the new one doesn't fail.
